it's been a while since my last entry (good thing for ya!).

i find myself to be tired a lot lately. i think it's the combination of having a semi-live-in girlfriend and the dreaded allergy season. eyes and inner-ear itch, runny nose, constant sneezing. i can't take it anymore! arrgh. but it helps having someone to snuggle up to at night.

i had a shitload of work to do the previous week. it was enjoyable for the most part. but still, i could live without some of the tedious work. i also enjoy when my supervisor gives me work to do without fully explaining how she wants me to do it. it makes me want to sit in my office and just stare at it without touching it. so that's what i did (except, i surfed the net also).

i'm suppose to be making an oversized poster today on powerpoint, but i haven't gotten the materials for it yet. i hope i don't have to stay past 6pm tonight. the ducks are playing again tonight, after that awesome game on saturday, where they defeated the minnesota wilds, 1-nil. brilliant goaltending by jean-sebastien giguere.

deidra and i went to a birthday dinner for three of my friends, carlin, tony, and chris, last friday at this art gallery/japanese restaurant place called restaurant shin. the food was okay, wasn't particularly special, even though the price would have you believe otherwise. but all in all, everyone had fun. the funny thing, depending on who you are and how long it took you to get your food, was that for some strange, fucked up reason, there was only ONE sushi chef working that night. that's ONE sushi chef for a restaurant that had a maximum capacity of 48 people.

since there were 18 or so of us, and some people went to town on ordering the sushi, a number of us didn't get our food until others of us were finished with our dinners. examples of how sad and pathetic it was: patrick was reduced to having to eat two slices of tomatoes and some weird green "salad" off of our (deidra, mark, and my) plates because he was starving; jenny, the last person to arrive, got her food before renee, the first person to arrive; and poor renee, she was the last person to get her food, and all it took was about 40 minutes after she ordered it.

so afterwards, we hung out at the M.J.R.'s place. drinks were had, even carlin got into the act and had an apple martini. since dinner took forever, it wasn't too long before i wanted to go home and go to sleep. of course the long island ice-tea that mark made, didn't help either (mark is notorious for making drinks that are deceptively strong). so after singing a few songs (horribly, i should add), deidra and i left and went back home to bed.

we went to watch x-men: united the following day. i have to say that it's a decent movie, but didn't live up to my expectations, generated by all the hype. it was pretty much a nice, relaxing saturday. that night, deidra and i went to return some videos we rented the sunday before, and it turned into a nice walk around town. very relaxing. watched the ducks game after we got home but couldn't finish it because the game lasted too long (finished watching it the next morning. what a great backhander by petr sykora in the 2nd OT period, along with a great assist by mike leclerc. also nice play by adam oates.)

sunday, we vegged until it was time to go up to mark's parent's house for mother's day dinner. deidra and i were late, only because i was feeling like shit from my allergies and we were running around playing silly games. we brought a bottle of wine and a potted plant. all in all, it was a nice time. deidra got to meet mark's siblings, kurt and cassie, kurt's girlfriend, brenda, and their little baby girl, celeste. dinner was delicious, especially the chessy potatoes (i'll have to get the recipe), and we finished it off with some cheesecake. i'm not sure how this transpired, but the "kids" ended up playing soccer in the backyard and now i have a nice big bruise on my left thigh. ah, sports!

deidra and i left several hours later, and did some grocery shopping, went back home, and within an hour, we went to bed. geriatrics, i tell ya. but not too bad of a weekend.

go ducks!
