everybody was kung-fu fighting...

i can't believe that punched by j. o'neal on some fat piston fan that they kept showing on sportcenter. now that was a pretty fucking awesome punch, especially when they show it in slow-mo. basically, the fan was getting up and o'neal's right arm suddenly appears from the right side of the screen, slowly, slowly, closer and closer until his fist connects with the jaw of the fat piston fan. then you see the rest of o'neal as he slips and the fan flat on his back wondering what century he's in (to the batcave!).

my take on this incident is that fans who fucking throw things should get what they deserve. just because you buy a ticket to see a professional sporting event doesn't give you the right to throw things at the opposing players. hackling players, yes. throwing, spitting, interferring with players, no. when will people realize this and behave with more civility?

fans who walk onto the court looking to instigate more trouble should also get what they deserve. it's completely ridiculous. but that punch was pretty damn awesome. hahaha.

having said all that, the fight tonight was pretty messed up. espn played a clip where an elderly lady was lying on the court at the bottom a pile which probably isn't a good thing. you see all these little kids crying because they were traumatized by what was basically a riot. what is up with some of the people in detroit? why would you continue to throw your drinks at opposing players as they are leaving the court? cost of the drink aside, why do something that could further instigate trouble and you getting your ass kicked?

and what about that chair playing into the middle of a fight? it was almost like wwe. and sucker-punching players. what's that all about? why not just fight them man to man? if you are "man" enough to punch someone, you should be "man" enough to fight them face-to-face.

but the players should be blamed as well. like other people have said, you should never, ever go into the stand. that is just not smart and it will basically instigate more trouble in the end. but that was still an awesome punch by o'neal.

so the fight was good tv, but bad for everyone that was involved. i'm wondering when will the nba ban the selling and drinking of alcohol at nba games. seriously, does it make sense for people to be drinking at sporting events?

of course, that's not going to happen because the sale of alcohol produces a lot of revenue for owners. it's just a matter of time when every playing field will be surrounded by a wall of clear plastic just like hockey so that unruly fans can not get onto the field of play. maybe even a damn clear plastic dome.

i'm currently stuck on "you and me both" by jason mraz no thanks to yahoo radio. i have to confess that it's actually a pretty good song at least, unlike that "i believe in a thing called love" song by that wannabe british "metal" group, whose name escapes me at this moment. now that was pretty fucking bad. and on a good note, the girl in the video is not too shabby to look at.

the semester is quickly coming to an end. it's pretty amazing how quickly the time flew by. of course, i'm still unemployed mostly cuz i'm incredibly lazy. but it's actually nice not having to go to work and having the option of watching tv during the middle of the day.

once again (praise the lord), my professors think that i'm producing pretty good work. i received full marks for writing assignment #3 (foundations), which i was afraid of it being pretty much crap. when i turned it in, i thought it was pretty bad. but then i read it again recently and i thought, "hey, this isn't too shabby!" regardless, i still have trepidations about how he grades though. in the class i kept calling "development" which i recently discovered isn't "development" at all, but something more akin to student affairs work, i got full marks on a book review. so needless to say, things are going well grade-wise.

at this point, i have several things to worry about before i'm completely free of my first semester at USC. in stats, i have pretty much all the labs and the final exam, which is a take-home, so that's going to be a piece of cake. for foundations, i have decided to take up his option of revising a paper to turn in for a new grade (i can't deal with a 6.5 out of 8 points) and a 12-15 page final paper. and i'm pretty much done with the student affairs work class after presenting a group presentation several weeks ago.

but today i got an email from the student affairs work professor saying that we have the choice of revising one of our papers, but it needs to have major verbal surgery in order for her to regrade it. for one of my other papers, i got a 17 out of 20 and was thinking about revising it for her to regrade, but then i thought, is it really that necessary? three stinking points. up until now, i've been perfect for all of my work. so it basically comes down to what i got on my group presentation. if i need to do it to get an 'A' in the class then i'll go ahead and do it.

my pre-new years resolution is to get started on my foundations final paper early because i'm really getting tired of procrastinating on all of my work this semester. of course, knowing me, that's much more difficult to do than anything, but i really want it to be done before UCLA/USC game on 12/4 so that i can enjoy it. but i have to say, i do my best writing under pressure.

so i'm still somewhat disengaged in my out-of-classroom interaction. but today, i actually went to a first year PASA student meeting. okay, so they served pizza and it was immediately after my tuesday class. but at least i went. needless to say, it was pretty boring and it disgusted me how involved and excited people were about everything. i mean, it's great being engaged, but seriously, let's not go overboard. (if anyone from PASA ever reads this, ignore my rant).

for me, i'm more engaged in events that lend academic value like the brown bag lunches. many PASA events involved drinking, partying, etc., etc., etc., which is totally not my thing. okay, maybe the drinking, but definitely not the partying. so at the meeting, a lot of the talk was about going on trips and ball games. nothing that really appealed to me.

the last three movies i saw with deidra, alfie, birth, and i heart huckabees, were very disappointing. and yes, deidra picked all of them, although i wanted to watch alfie and i heart huckabees. i hate coming out of the movie theatre annoyed because i got nothing out of movie i'd just watched.

i really like hensen's sodas.
