the lake

i've always been a guy that complains about stuff before actually trying it. i don't know why. that's just the way i am. as i grow older, or should i say, mature, i discovered that i have a lot of faults. some really bad. others not so much. i really want to stop complaining about things before i try them. but that's so fucking difficult, you know. along the same lines, i admit that i'm a lazy fuck. my perfect life would be just to sit outside of starbucks and chill. i'm sure deidra isn't going to like that much. she believes in equality; meaning that we both share the work in and out of the home. i hate housework. i hate having to wake up early to go to work. but then again, who doesn't? fucking cost of living really fucks things up doesn't it? whatever happened to the good old days of just hunting and gathering? all i have to do is hunt for food and then chill at starbucks all day. nice.

every since we've been together, deidra always wanted me to go camping with her. NAH. i didn't think i'd like it and i certainly didn't want to get my fat ass away from home and away from my tv and couch. to make a long story short, a couple of guys from the 'bucks wanted to go camping last month and since they talked it up to be this grand old time, i decided to partake in the merriment.

i admit that the prospect of camping with a bunch of guys is a bit more attractive than going camping alone with deidra. i think this has more to do with the fear of the unknown. the last time i went camping was back when i was ten and though it was fun, i had no idea of what is needed to go camping. even though deidra said that she was an avid camper, i rather not have a deliverance moment.

i have to say that it was a blast. so much so that last weekend, aaron, jenny, deidra and i went camping. this time, we were right by the lake and waking up in the cold morning air with midst rising from the lake was amazing. we went through five bundles of firewood. the only problem was that we had a small two-person tent and slept on two layers of sleeping bags. it was really uncomfortable because the campsite was a bit rocky.

right after we came back from our trip, deidra and i went tent shopping. we got a bigger tent (with bay windows!!!), an air mattress, and a new kerosene lamp (the old one was screwy anyway). i heard that the campsite will be closing for the winter soon so we're thinking of making one last trip up there before they close.

here are some pictures:
