i went over to carlin's place this afternoon with several friends and we ended up playing fifa world cup 2002 on the x-box for an hour or so. needless to say, i killed (i did however had to come back from a 2-nil deficit against carlin and ended up beating him 3-2. excellent!). the graphics were incredible; of course, they were much better than the fifa soccer 99 on the sony playstation (which i have). and the game play was better cuz when you pass, you have to direct the pass to your teammates and when you shoot, you actually have to aim more than before. of course, i played the english side and the players were fairly realistic (facially). a very enjoyable game indeed.

i'm so behind in the latest video game technology, what with owning a playstation and all. but then i'm not a big fan of video games, except maybe sports games. can't wait to check out the hockey game he got.

i need to research more regarding digital cameras. i would like one before i go on my trip to hk in late march. it would be nice to get it a week or so beforehand so i can familiarize myself with it. the one i like, the canon 230s, is still out of range for what i would like to pay (retail: $399). but according to samy's camera, they are completely sold out of the x-mas 2002 shipment and are on backorder.

i don't care what you think or say, air supply is good music.

damn it's late, but i was just lying in bed listening to "the 99p challenge" and i just had to get up and type up some of the prequels for y'all.

we've all seen films... i've seen two. sue: "so point your pun gun and let it fly"

- capricorn nil (capricorn one)
- conceived on the 4th of october (born on the 4th of july)
- gums (teeth)
- apocalypse soon (apocalypse now)
- schindler's to do list (schindler's list) "number 1 - make list"
- how the hell are we going to go across the river kwai (the bridge on the river kwai)
- lawrence of heathrow (lawrence of arabia)
- pubic cassidy and the sundance boy (butch cassidy and the sundance kid)
- 3.13 "which is the very dull prequel to (pi)"
- honey, the kids, they are normal sizes (honey, i shrunk the kids)
- the second in line to the throne and i (the king and i)
- fiddler in the lift (fiddler on the roof)
- four engagements and a christening (four weddings and a funeral)
hugh baby!
- the italian application form (the italian job)
- the fifth sense (the sixth sense) "a film about a boy who could see... all the time"
- pre-menstrual "which is the prequel to (the blob)"
- still here with the wind (gone with the wind)

and finally...

- when will those lambs quiet down a bit (the silence of the lambs)

i think it's funnier if you hear it live. the rest of the show is quite hilarious as well. enjoy.

this week's "the 99p challenge" is a good one. i'm going to transcribe part of the first round, which contained the prompt: names of film prequels you have seen recently.

just a taste... "malcolm w was very good." of course, that being the prequel to malcolm x

wearing a cap makes my hair hurt and gives me a headache. i'm not sure why however.

if i go out to dinner tonight, it'll be in 40 minutes. but i'm still full from lunch. what to do? what to do?
i skipped out on work yesterday. didn't feel like going after my co-worker pissed me off. i have 1.93mb free space left on my computer at work. she wanted to install some program on it so i could test it. i told her, i didn't want her to do that cuz it'll take up all the space on my computer. but no, she kept insisting on installing it on my computer. so i just left work. didn't want to deal with it. let's see if i'll ever test the damn program.

the funny thing is she is completely, socially inept ("the most inept that's ever stepped" - the smiths). for example, she asked one of our clients if she was pregnant... unfortunately, the client was actually just chunky. how offensive is that? i can't stand her. i hate the fact that my professor hired two asian programmers who aren't very social or for that matter, friendly. more reasons to quit my job i guess. why does work suck so bad?

so since i skipped work, i went to see the movie, all the real girls. it's one of those artsy-fartsy, independent films. it was okay, not great. i came out of the theatre no better than when i went in. so it was a waste of time and money. i should have gone to see the quiet american instead. however, the one good thing (and that's not saying much) about all the real girls was zooey deschanel.

i thought daredevil was a pretty good movie.

i was watching jimmy kimmel last night and this comedian came on and rapped a song about a "nut valet."

i thought it was the funniest thing i've ever heard.

another thing, janeane garofalo is pretty damn hot! especially when she's wearing glasses... mmm, mmm.

i love the day after it stops raining. not only is the sun shining, but the air is crisp and clear. i love how you can see the san gabriel mountains when you're driving on the I-210 up around the pasadena area and even on the I-10 near downtown . it's so beautiful. most of the time, you can't see anything because the smog is so heavy.

most of my friends don't believe that i'm a british national overseas (BNO). okay, maybe they believe it, but they don't recognize it. one of them even called me "commie overseas." well screw you all, here's proof that there is such a thing as a BNO. and if you're interested, you can read up on it here.

i like throwback jerseys, especially hockey ones. here are two of them that i really like. the defunked quebec nordiques (now the colorado avalanche) joe sakic jersey and the minnesota north stars (now the dallas stars) mike modano jersey. great colors and designs. they remind me of when i first started watching hockey, when wayne gretsky came down to LA and played for the kings. ahhh, good times.
i was watching jimmy kimmel live just now and was kinda surprised that heather graham was one of tonight's guest.

unfortunately, you could tell she didn't want to be there. there was a certain distant gaze in her eyes, which got progressively worse as the show went on. i bet during the rodeo segment (the last seg of the show), she was probably thinking to herself, "i'm going to fire my fucking agent when i get off this pathetic excuse for a talk show." i kinda felt sorry for her, but not as much as i wanted to get to know her... carnally.

i'm not sure if it's just me, but jimmy kimmel live isn't a very good show right now. with the exception of snoop dogg two weeks ago, it's been pretty bad. hopefully they will pull it together just like conan did when he first started (now that was terrible).
i love flags.

so far, i have two large flags, both of which are near and dear to my heart.

the first one is the colonial HK flag; the one with the union jack in the corner. for those without a clue, here's what it looks like. here's a more detailed look at the HK arms, which is awesome. if i were to get a tattoo, i think that would be it.

i think the colonial flag is more aesthetically pleasing than the HK SAR (special administrative region) flag, which i find a bit bland.

i'm really proud to be from HK. and i'm equally proud of being a BNO (british national overseas). of course that means shit because i don't have a right to abode in great britain. but it doesn't matter much to me since i'm now an american! here's an american flag baby!

the other flag i have is an england flag. i don't mean the union jack, oh, no sir. i'm talking about the st. george's flag. what most people don't know is that great britain is made of of three "regions": england, scotland, and northern ireland. each of them have distinct flags. the union jack is the combination of these three flags.

i have the colonial HK flag hanging in my living room, and i have the st. george's flag hanging in my room. i love them. i also have mini st george's flags hanging up during the world cup 2002. unfortunately, my team, england, lost in the quarterfinals. however, they did have a good run though. i mean they got out of group F (the so called, "group of death") but lost to the eventual champions, brazil, one-two.

speaking of the english world cup team, here's the lyrics to the official english WC 2002 song

They thought it was all over
But it’s only just begun
The cup of Eastern promise
In the land of the Rising Sun
Seemed a million miles away
And one thing’s for sure
The talk begins of ‘66
‘Cos we haven’t found a cure
Send an SOS, a country’s in need
Sven’s the man he’s got a plan
We’ve found a super Swede
A nation re-united
And England comes alive
Golden balls is captain
And Heskey makes it five

We’re on the ball (x8)

Red white and blue the colours
The whole world in our hands
The time has come to kick it
Can we kick it, yes we can
Sven’s army marching forward
Hear three lions roar
We’re England forever now
Altogether we’re on the ball

We’re on the ball (x8)

"What do you think of the song, Motty?"
"Oh, fantastic stuff!"
"Is it going to be a hit?"
"Yes it is!"

It’s Neville to Campbell, Campbell to Rio
Rio to Scholesy, Scholesy Gerrard
Gerrard to Beckham, Beckham to Heskey
Heskey to Owen to nod

It’s Neville to Campbell, Campbell to Rio
Rio to Scholesy, Scholesy Gerrard
Gerrard to Beckham, Beckham to Heskey
Heskey to Owen to nod

It’s Neville to Campbell, Campbell to Rio
Rio to Scholesy, Scholesy Gerrard
Gerrard to Beckham, Beckham to Heskey
Heskey to Owen to nod

We’re on the ball (repeat til fade)

there you go, never say you're a close-minded american. you learned something new. albeit, about HK and england. :)

cheers!

oooh, the sun is out.

oh, it went back into hiding behind the clouds again.

i should go home and do something constructive. i can't stand it being here at work. i was mentally molested by some vet who was standing in my office, telling me the story of his life whilst bits of chewed up fritos and drool slowly made their way from his mouth onto my floor.

ahh, the joys of working at the va.
you've got to love sue perkins

"My early school days took place in a convent where I learned that it wasn’t important to understand mathematics, science, litreature or art, but rather I should never eat left-handed, otherwise a bolt would come down from heaven and strike me down! Because I was indeed Satan’s hand maiden! As I progressed the school days seemed to me to be nothing more than a series of detentions where I would spend time in a small beige room writing the line "repetition is a pointless exercise" 1000 times. As I grew older I discovered that more pain at school was to be found in the gymnasium which acted like a sports Darwinian version of Survival of the Fittest. I was a quick..."

you can listen to her hosting "the 99p challenge" with new shows every tuesday evening at 6:30pm (british time of course).

all i'm saying is... why wasn't i credited for the harem? was it not i who first initiated the idea that was the harem of stars?

it hasn't rained this hard in los angeles in a very long time. i hate driving in this weather and only because people in this city can't drive worth shit in the rain. and i'm not saying that i've got mad driving-in-the-rain skills. i'm just saying people don't need to be putting on their breaks just because the car 30 feet in front of them on the freeway breaks. it drives me nuts (no pun intended).

having said that, i love the rain. but only if i'm at home and don't have to go anywhere. i could just sit outside and stare at the rain forever. especially at night when you can see big rain drops pelting down against the errie glow of a sodium street light. i do hope that my backyard isn't flooded... that would be very bad. very bad indeed.

i am one step closer to finishing up redecorating my house. i just need to sort through my mail and clear some stuff out and i'll be done. yes i will. woo-hoo! oh, i was going through my cds (and i never realize that i have so many of them). anyway, i found a cd i thought i'd lost two years ago. papas fritas. man what a great cd!

holy shit!

we won a game finally. hahaha, by ONE point. i wish that this season would end right now.

GO BRUINS!

oops... forgot to add that snoop dogg is the bomb! he was great on jimmy kimmel live last week (granted i watched one show all last week).

fo' schizzle!

oh if you want snoop to schizzolate your website, bring yo' ass down here 'n shit.

sorry everyone, been kinda busy painting and revamping the house.

i never realize how draining painting could be. especially having to do the prep work for it, like clearing the room, spackle, sanding, wiping the walls clean, etc. i'm glad that it's almost over with.

at this point, i need to go get a computer desk cuz i've destroyed the old one. it wasn't really a computer desk as much as it was a regular desk that was transformed into a "computer desk" by taking out all the drawers and putting in one of those sliding trays for the keyboard.

RIP - crew of the shuttle COLUMBIA. you will not die in vain, and you will always be remembered.

congrat's to the tampa bay buccaneers for winning the superbowl and getting mark hammered with 6 tds (or 12 beers/shots for those counting at home).

i'm not a very good golfer. in fact, i'm not even a decent golfer. but i did sink a 10ft bogey putt on the 18th at the arroyo.

in about a week, i'll have the ball rolling on my grad school plans. it's all about getting your living environment situated, then you can have the peace of mind to concentrate on what's really important in life... ungraduate co-eds. SWEEEEEET!

i haven't been able to spend much time watching movies with all the house renovations. i still want to catch the pianist, and i wouldn't mind watching how to lose a guy in 10 days only because kate hudson is so damn cute. i rented two dvds last night, and here's what i said about one of them.

once again, i'm not gay. (not that there's anything wrong with that)
